Originally formed as Delta Aviation Battalion in July 1963, at Can Tho it was activated as the 13th Battalion in September 1964. In December 1967 it was assigned to the 164th Group to support the three ARVN  divisions in the Delta and other units. It moved to Soc Trang in October 1968, and remained there until March 1972.

The 28th/96th Signal Detachment, were part of the 13th Aviation Battalion and supported the avionics needs of the 175th Outlaws and 114th Knights AHC’s.

The company was based at Vinh Long Air Field, Republic of South Vietnam from May 1963 to February 1972.   After departing the Republic of South Vietnam in February 1972, the 114th Aviation Company was assigned to the Panama Canal Zone where it served with distinction.

Arrived in country Feb 1962 as the 93rd Transportation Company (AML), the first Army Aviation unit in the Mekong Delta. In June 1963, The 93rd Transportation Company (Light Helicopter) was re-designated the 121st Aviation Company. In October 1970, the 121st stopped reporting operationally to the 13th CAB. They started receiving missions from the local Vietnamese National Air Force (VNAF) Wing.  The primary mission was to train Vietnamese officers and EM in the details of the transport side of the 121st AHC's mission (VNAF was not given helicopter gun-ships), and to transfer equipment to VNAF. The 121st disbanded in December 1970.

The 175th was formed when its predecessor, A Company 502nd Battalion was inactivated. It operated from September 1966 to 1972 near the Cambodian border in IV Corps. They did night missions with choppers mounted with high intensity lights to spot movement on the rivers of the Delta, and also performed daytime combat assaults. The book "Outlaws in Vietnam" by David Eastman is about the 175th.

The 221st Aviation Company (Shotguns) was activated under authority of the Department of the Army General Order 53, dated 23 March 1965, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The company departed the United States on 11 July 1965. The 221st  was assigned to the 307th Combat Aviation Battalion on its arrival to Viet Nam. The 307th CAB was assigned to the 164th Group on 20 Dec 1967. The 221st was later transferred to the 13th Combat Aviation Battalion and finally the 214th Combat Aviation Battalion. The 221st began its assignment in Viet Nam at Soc Trang Airfield on 16 July 1965. It had BirdDog recon airplanes located at many locations throughout the Delta. The unit was relocated to Can Tho on the transfer of Soc Trang to the VNAF. The unit eventually was relocated to Vinh Long to replace the 199th Aviation Company (Swamp Foxes) as they were disbanded. On 10 October 1971 the 221st flew its' last mission ending fixed wing support of the 164th Combat Aviation Group in the Delta.

They were in Vietnam from April 1965 - September 1966 as A Company / 101st Aviation Battalion in Soc Trang Vietnam.  In September 1966, when the 101st Airborne moved to I Corps the company went with them, then our 336th AHC was activated and remained in Soc Trang until October 1971 when it departed Vietnam. It was the last aviation unit at Soc Trang.

C Troop was reactivated in Vietnam using assets of D Troop, 1/4th Cavalry which had been in country with the 9th Infantry Division. It served with our brigade from March 1970 until February 1973.
