160th Combat Aviation Group (Provisional) (1968-1969) - Hue - I Corps

It is unclear if the group was considered a part of either the 101st or the 1st Aviation Brigade. Formed from the companies of the 308th Aviation Battalion, the 160th Group was a transition unit that supported the 101st Airborne Division. It was put in place to get aviation assets in place in Northern I Corps and to get the 101st airmobile.  In mid 1969 the transition was accomplished and the units picked up new names as part of the 101st Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. They remained in Vietnam until 1972. It is now the 159th Battalion, part of 101st Airborne.  More about these at the 101st web site www.campbell.army.mil/division.htm
